ACEs Aware Ventura County
ACEs Aware is an initiative led by the Office of the California Surgeon General and the Department of Health Care Services to give Medi-Cal providers training, clinical protocols, and payment for screening children and adults for ACEs.
Our Mission
The ACEs Aware team in Ventura County aims to expand the practice of screening for adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) in pediatric and adult patients. We are implementing programs at clinics across Ventura County to help providers and medical staff become ACEs Aware trained and certified. We seek to better understand how toxic stress — particularly from abuse, neglect, and household dysfunction — may impact a person’s future health. We will continue to research the impact of ACEs on long-term health outcomes of patients — an issue that has long been ignored by healthcare institutions.
